Energy Experts warn of the Consequences of over dependence on fossil fuels

The common belief is that the stability of any country in the present world depends on the abundance of fossil fuel reserves that it possesses. This could be considered true until the discovery of natural energy alternative sources. But what was the reason that made the nations take a U-turn when this issue of fossil fuels came about, fuels once regarded among the most precious commodities? This is attributed to two main reasons. The first- fossil fuels were found to be the main pollutants of the atmosphere. The other is the problem of depletion of resources that cannot be replenished by nature within the span of a few years.

This has made our energy experts put on their thinking caps to figure out how to make a switch over to better and renewable forms of energy. The answer for their quest was brought about with the tapping of natural energy sources like sunlight and wind to produce electrical energy. This could indeed be termed the greatest breakthrough that man has ever achieved in energy. Ever since these discoveries, scientists have conducted all sorts of experiments to try to tap all available forms of natural energy to satisfy the energy needs of the world.

The tapping and use of natural energy reduces the extent of our harm to the life of man and the environment; this is a very significant factor that has attracted many energy experts to look deeper at this field. How long our non-renewable energy reserves can last will continue to be a very controversial subject. Natural energy on the other hand is near-infinite in occurrence and is freely available in nature and will surely last until the end of the world. This fact encourages most of us and our scientists around the world alike; once they perfect the design and implementation of necessary equipment, devices and techniques to tap this source of energy then they can very well ensure a continuous supply of such forms of energy. It is true that the set up costs for tapping natural energy sources will surely prick any individual pocket but when long term benefits are calculated then such projects will surely be seen to be worth the initial costs. Setting up solar panels at home or wind mills in our wide open spaces is not child’s play but when demand for such devices increases then their costs get reduced in the long run.

It is totally up to us as individuals through the mechanism of government to decide whether to go forward with our centuries-old fossil fuel consumption that is rapidly getting depleted and in a couple of years will get totally exhausted, or to make an intelligent switch-over to the tapping of natural energy sources that are freely available and abundant in nature.
